Tourism receipts up by 10% to $3.44b from January to September 2018
BTMICE visits increased by 14% to 2 million arrivals during this period.
Tourism receipts from the business travel and meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibition sector (BTMICE) went up by 10% to hit $3.44b from January to September 2018, driven by a rise in visitor arrivals, according to a report by Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
BTMICE visits increased by 14% YoY to 2 million arrivals during the January-September 2018 period. STB said that Singapore will play host to a sizeable number of business events from 2019 and beyond, especially from the Professional Services, Technology and F&B clusters.
Such events from the Professional Services and Technology sectors could attract 10,500 and 6,000 international delegates respectively.
Meanwhile, the country’s strong MICE infrastructure and expertise has boosted the numbers of F&B business events as well. STB stated that the upcoming Global Restaurant Leadership Conference 2019 and Equip&Dine Asia 2019 is expected to attract 3,500 international visitors. In addition, Food&HotelAsia – HoReCa and F&B 2020 could bring 45,000 international delegates.
