Clarity on advancement urged as worker confidence gains momentum

Just one in four workers report having promotion opportunities.

Rising career confidence among workers in Singapore has highlighted the need for companies to be transparent about internal growth opportunities.

Data from ManpowerGroup showed that six in 10 workers in Singapore were confident about their career opportunities, and seven in 10 felt positive about their development prospects.

The report also found that eight in 10 workers were confident in their experience and skills, while seven in 10 felt equipped to use the latest industry tech.

Rising confidence isn’t matched by opportunity, with one in four workers reporting no path to career advancement with their current employer.

Women feel the disparity more sharply with just 58% reporting advancement opportunities, versus 69% of men.

“In Singapore’s fast-paced and diverse economy, it’s vital for employers to reimagine work to
build resilience and involve people as active partners in shaping the future. Now is the time to listen, engage, and act,” said Linda Teo, country manager of ManpowerGroup Singapore.

Beyond offering transparency on career growth, ManpowerGroup urged employers to strengthen manager-employee trust and promote work-life balance.
