Chart of the Day: Online HR hiring in Singapore up 10% in March

This reversed two consecutive months of decline.

Online hiring for HR and administration roles in Singapore broke two straight months of decline after picking up 10% in March, according to a report from Monster. Recruitment activity for the sector fell 2% in January and February, falling lower than Q4 2018 figures.

"This could be because the republic is seeking professionals who are digitally savvy and possess data-driven skillsets, and who are often in short supply14 coupled with the fact that hiring is often slow before and after holiday periods," the firm said in a report.

The same trend could be observed in Malaysia where online hiring for the HR and administrative sector fell 3% in January and February but recovered 10% in March. On the other hand, online hiring for the same sector in the Philippines rose 19% in January, 10% in February and 18% in March especially as the country ramps up investment in its people in tandem with stabilising economic growth.

In Q1, online hiring rose 11% in Q1 with the IT, telecom, ISP and BPO/ITES sectors driving the quarterly gains.
