F&B sales rise 0.4% in April

Fast food outlets recorded the strongest year-on-year growth.

Food and beverage (F&B) services sales rose 0.4% YoY in April 2026, moderating from the 2.3% growth recorded in March, according to the Department of Statistics.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, F&B sales increased 1.1% in April compared with March.

Total F&B sales value was estimated at $1.5b during the month. Online sales accounted for 19.9% of total F&B sales, lower than the 20.4% recorded in March.

Fast food outlets posted the strongest year-on-year growth amongst F&B categories, with sales rising 3.2%. Cafes followed with a 2.4% increase.

Sales of food caterers grew 1.5%, whilst restaurants recorded a 1.2% increase.

Food courts and other eating places were the only category to decline, with turnover falling 3.6% YoY.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, fast food outlets recorded a 6.1% increase, whilst food courts and other eating places rose 3.7%.

Meanwhile, cafes, restaurants, and food caterers recorded month-on-month declines of 0.9%, 0.5%, and 0.3%, respectively.
