A*STAR merges two institutes to form new AI research hub

It began operations on 1 July.

A*STAR has formed the A*STAR Institute of Advanced Intelligence and Computing (A*STAR IAIC), a research institute focusing on artificial intelligence (AI).

Formed through the integration of the A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research and the A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing, it will support Singapore’s efforts to develop and deploy AI and digital solutions.

It will also explore digital technologies, modelling, simulation, quantum and high-performance computing.

The institute began operations on 1 July. All previous projects by the two research institutes will continue under and be referenced by the new entity name.
