Singapore and Thailand expand partnership on legal development

The partnership also covers joint work on common templates, legal dictionaries, and data schemas.

The Singapore Academy of Law and Thailand’s Office of the Council of State have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation on legal development and legal technology.

Under the MoU, the parties will work together to advance legal studies, research, and legal-database development in both countries.

Planned areas of collaboration include the co-development of legal technology, with opportunities to feature Thai legal-tech start-ups at Singapore’s TechLaw.Fest, as well as capacity-building exchanges for students and legal professionals via academic and institutional networks.

The partnership also covers joint work on common templates, legal dictionaries, and data schemas to support wider ASEAN legal cooperation, along with efforts to enhance advanced legal databases and translate legal materials into local languages to improve access to justice across the region.

Both sides frame the MoU as a step toward stronger intra-ASEAN collaboration in legal technology, to build a more connected and innovative regional legal ecosystem.
