Liberty appoints Jimmy Tong as Singapore chief executive

Tong will lead the group's unified Singapore business.

Liberty has appointed Jimmy Tong as ceo for Singapore, effective 27 April 2026 and subject to regulatory approval.

Tong will lead Liberty’s unified Singapore business and report to Matthew Jackson, President of Asia Pacific, according to a press release.

The combined operation, soon to operate under the Liberty brand, will be based at One Raffles Quay.

He previously spent 10 years leading Great Eastern’s General and Group Insurance for Singapore and 15 years in leadership roles at United Overseas Bank.

The appointment follows the consolidation of Liberty’s Liberty Insurance and Liberty Specialty Markets operations under a single insurance licence from 1 January 2026, after the completion of a Singapore company transfer.

As part of the leadership changes, Yasar Fistikci has taken on the role of chief product officer for Singapore, whilst Nicole Lim, ceo of Liberty Specialty Markets, will leave the business at the end of April 2026.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
