LiuGong opens AsiaPac headquarters in Singapore

Its Asia Pacific headquarters is expected to generate more than US$50m in revenues in its first year of operations.

LiuGong, one of the world’s largest wheel loader manufacturers, today opened its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore. The 45,000 square feet facility will support corporate functions and serve as LiuGong’s sales hub, technical support and trading hub for Asia Pacific, excluding China. The facility is also the first spare parts distribution centre for Southeast Asia and the Pacific islands.

“The launch of our headquarters in Singapore is a significant milestone for LiuGong. A significant number of our customers are based in the Asia Pacific region, and we expect a substantial per cent of our business to flow through this centre in the next few years,” said Chairman Wang Xiaohua, Chairman, Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Corporation. “The office in Singapore will strengthen our presence in this region, and contribute towards our goal of becoming one of the world’s top construction equipment makers.”

LiuGong expects its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore to generate more than USD50 million in revenues in the first year of operations, with expected annual growth rates of 30 per cent.

The office, which will serve Southeast Asia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and other islands in the region, plays a critical role as LiuGong’s key customer touch point in this region, as it allows the company to attend to customer needs more efficiently. For example, spare parts that previously took two weeks to reach customers can now be delivered in two days, reducing production down time significantly.

The company will also provide training opportunities for employees at this new centre, particularly those from the research & development department. “This will allow our staff to interact more closely with our customers in this region, and gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the needs of each local market. Not only will this allow us to react to customers more effectively, it will also help us develop products that will best meet the needs of the different markets,” said Chairman Wang.

According to LiuGong, Singapore was chosen as the choice location because of its pro-business infrastructure and strong government support. By establishing a presence in this region, the company hopes to contribute to the growing construction equipment industry in Singapore and the region. LiuGong now has 10 global offices around the world, including its new headquarters in Singapore.
