eSIM provider Airalo bags $281m investment, hits $1.2b valuation

The capital value growth makes Airalo the industry’s first unicorn.

Airalo, a global eSIM provider, has raised $281m (US$220m) in its latest funding round, raising its capital value to $1.2b (US$1b).

This makes Airalo the first unicorn in the industry, the company said in a statement released on 10 July.

The latest investment includes $236m (US$185m) from lead investor CVC through its Asia Fund VI, and with support from existing investors Peak XV and Antler Elevate.

According to Airalo, this new capital will fuel the continual improvement of the customer experience, including enhanced user support, new products, and better value for money.

Airalo will also use its industry-leading platform to provide connectivity to companies, both for the needs of their employees and their customers.

Airalo now serves over 20 million travellers across more than 200 destinations.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
