Increased daily services between Singapore and Taipei; Singapore and Jakarta and launching of new services between Sydney and Brisbane helped boost volume.

Tiger Airways reported solid passenger volumes and load factors in January 2011.

A total of 5.9 million passengers chose to fly with Tiger Airways from February 2010 to January 2011, an increase of 31% over the 4.5 million passengers in the preceding 12 months. Average load factor for the 12-month period to January 2011 increased to 86%, an increase of 1 percentage point year-on-year.

“In January, we commenced services between Singapore and Taipei and increased our daily services between Singapore and Jakarta to double daily. Earlier this week, we launched new services between Sydney and Brisbane, which is Australia’s second busiest domestic route. Services will also be launched between Sydney and Sunshine Coast from next month.

“Going forward, we will be growing our Singapore and Australia cubs significantly for the period April to October 2011. Year-on-year, Tiger Airways Singapore and Tiger Airways Australia will increase their seat capacity by 41% and 20% respectively, by strengthening their presence on key routes and introducing new destinations.”
