SATS deepens China footprint with 90% stake in NWA
The deal gives SATS majority control of the China-based aviation food producer.
SATS Ltd said it increased its stake in Nanjing Weizhou Airline Food Corp. (NWA) to 90% after acquiring an additional 40% interest from founder and general manager Luo Bo.
In a 6 May statement, the Singapore-listed airline caterer and air cargo handler first invested in NWA in 2019 with a 50% stake. The latest transaction gives SATS majority control of the China-based aviation food producer, which specialises in frozen in-flight meals.
NWA operates production facilities in Nanjing and a network of assembly kitchens across China supplying airlines with frozen meals, snacks, and related food products.
SATS said the NWA has expanded since the pandemic, with revenue more than doubling as Chinese carriers increased adoption of frozen meal solutions for domestic flights.
According to SATS, the increased stake is intended to consolidate operations between NWA and its China food solutions business. The group said it plans to integrate production capabilities and align operating models across its China operations.
