Spike in COVID-19 cases halts Singapore-Hong Kong air travel bubble

New launch dates will be decided after a two-week review.

The much-awaited Singapore-Hong Kong travel bubble was postponed less than 24 hours before its supposed launch on Saturday due to the spike of COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong.

Singapore Minister for Transport Ong Ye Kung announced that the launch would be deffered by two weeks.

“This decision was reached following a discussion between Minister Ong and Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Edward Yau, earlier today. This is to safeguard public health in both cities as well as travellers’ own health,” according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

The air travel bubble plan is a quarantine-free travel arrangement between Singapore and Hong Kong.

Travellers have to follow stringent requirements such as taking COVID-19 PCR test before the flight and upon reaching their destination.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
