Savills (Singapore) Pte Ltd earns recognition at SBR Management Excellence Awards

The global real estate provider was honoured with awards for its energy and sustainability management team who ushered impactful projects - contributing to Singapore's 2030 sustainability goals.

Savills (Singapore) Pte Ltd, with its Savills Energy & Sustainability Management (ESM) team, emerged victorious at the recent SBR Management Excellence Awards as they won the categories Team of the Year - Real Estate and Innovator of the Year- Real Estate. 

The Savills ESM team has swiftly grown from a small unit in 2022 into a leading force in the sustainability sector. Under the leadership of Samuel Han, the team now comprises nine professionals from diverse backgrounds, including Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Science. Han’s guidance has been instrumental in fostering their development, allowing them to emerge as leaders in their respective areas.

In a remarkably short amount of time, Savills ESM has secured a strong client base, and the team’s ability to build and maintain lasting relationships has resulted in repeat business from prominent and high-profile clients—projects that play a significant role in helping Singapore meet its 2030 sustainability goals.

In addition to these high-impact projects, Savills ESM has pioneered the development of ENSURE™ (Energy & Sustainability Report), a groundbreaking tool designed to make complex technical sustainability data accessible to non-technical stakeholders.

Traditional energy audits, like the Energy Detailed Audit Report, are often difficult for decision-makers to fully understand, despite their critical role in making decisions related to energy efficiency, equipment procurement and long-term investments. ENSURE™ bridges this knowledge gap by translating technical jargon into actionable insights that are easily comprehended, empowering decision-makers to improve their buildings' sustainability.

ENSURE™ provides a comprehensive assessment of a building’s overall health, focusing on key areas such as energy, water usage, waste management, materials, workplace management, and indoor environmental quality. Furthermore, it generates actionable recommendations tailored to a building's specific circumstances and available data. The simplicity of ENSURE™ allows owners and stakeholders to make informed decisions that align with long-term sustainability objectives, enhancing efficiency and reducing operational costs.

The success of ENSURE™ has been widely recognised. It has also become a game-changer for sustainability awareness, with over 15 reports distributed to building owners to date. If all recommendations from these reports are fully implemented, the anticipated impact could be profound, with potential energy savings exceeding 5 million kWh per year and a reduction of 2 million kg of CO2 emissions annually.

Key industry leaders have highlighted the value of ENSURE™ in transforming building management. Savills Singapore’s CEO, Mr Marcus Loo, noted that ENSURE™ empowers clients to reduce their properties' carbon footprints and align with Singapore’s sustainability objectives.

The programme also helped clients understand their buildings' current performance and identify areas for improvement, resulting in energy savings and longer building lifespans.

Within just two years, the Savills ESM team has become a key player in Singapore’s sustainability landscape through its impactful projects and innovative tools like ENSURE™. The team does not only help clients meet their sustainability goals but also contributes to a greener, more energy-efficient future for Singapore.
