Allianz Malaysia Berhad bags Life Insurance Award at Malaysia International Business Awards 2021

The group’s Allianz We Care Community programme offers complimentary COVID-19 coverage to Malaysians and PRs.

Allianz Malaysia Berhad is part of German-based Allianz Group which was founded in 1890. The investment holding company has two wholly-owned subsidiaries, namely Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad ("Allianz Life") and Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad (“Allianz General”), which are collectively known as "Allianz Malaysia”.

Allianz Life, which is one of the fastest-growing life insurers in Malaysia, offers a comprehensive range of life and health insurance as well as investment-linked products. Meanwhile, Allianz General provides a broad spectrum of services in motor insurance, personal lines, small to medium enterprise businesses and large industrial risks, living up to its name as one of the leading general insurers in the country.

With 32 branches in major cities nationwide, Allianz Malaysia aims to distinguish itself as the most trusted provider of financial services to suit the lifetime protection needs of Malaysians while playing a role of a responsible corporate citizen. This is the key driving force in the company's Allianz We Care Community programme.

When COVID-19 was first reported, Malaysians were mostly unconcerned and went about their daily businesses as usual. This was until the virus eventually reached their shores and things took an unprecedented turn for the worse.

On 18 March 2020, Malaysia went into an almost total lockdown with the Movement Control Order (MCO) which piqued Malaysians’ anxiety. Understandably, health and financial security were their top two concerns. This was proven by the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2019, which reported that 81% of Malaysians use their income to pay for health services following an impending economic recession and scarcity.

It was also revealed that Malaysians want to see some action and support by brands amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, such as showing how they can be helpful in the new everyday life, sharing their efforts in battling the situation, as well as offering positive perspectives to the people.

Allianz Malaysia saw the gap and need, hence the Allianz We Care Community programme was born. Launched in June 2020, the programme aims to build an inclusive and resilient community and marks the beginning of a long-term mission to form a healthcare ecosystem that provides end-to-end advice and solutions needed by Malaysians throughout their medical journey.

It is an extraordinary feat of Allianz Malaysia “walking the talk” – which was conceived in just two weeks – and a true testament to the brand promise of providing confidence for what's ahead, including an unprecedented worldwide pandemic.

Everyone from the group’s senior management to the working team worked at break-neck speed to see this through – all while working remotely and adapting to an ever-changing situation during the pandemic.

The outcome of this initiative goes beyond lip service. It gives tangible care and support for Malaysians and PRs aged 18 and above – regardless of whether they are existing Allianz Malaysia customers or not – with free COVID-19 coverage including cash relief and death benefit.

Moreover, there is a host of complementary healthcare benefits available for free such as free doctor's teleconsultation, discounted general health screening package, and pharmacy e-vouchers among others, with no strings attached.

To drive awareness and sign-ups during the launch, Allianz Malaysia executed a 360° campaign encompassing all major communication touch points including ATL, BTL, social media, PR, digital and content marketing. As such, reach amplification was achieved by leveraging on its network of agents and business partners to spread the news to customers and non-customers as well.

In January 2021, Allianz Malaysia collaborated with Universal Music Malaysia to launch the We Care song. It was performed by popular Malaysian singers and to spread the message of hope and positivity via its inspiring lyrics and catchy melody.

The We Care song has been published on major music streaming platforms and is being promoted via Allianz Malaysia, Universal Music Malaysia, as well as the celebrities' social media pages.

More plans and initiatives are underway to continue building more awareness for the Allianz We Care Community programme, making it a valuable contribution to the community.
