Ley Choon takes 51% stake in new tunnelling JV with Australian partner
The JV targets pipe jacking projects in Singapore and international infrastructure markets.
Ley Choon Group Holdings is expanding its trenchless infrastructure capabilities through a joint venture (JV) with Australia-based The Tunnel Company (Aust) Pty Ltd, according to an announcement.
The company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Ley Choon Constructions and Engineering Pte Ltd, entered into a joint venture agreement on 8 June to form Ley Choon TTC (Aust) Tunnelling International Pte. Ltd., which was incorporated in Singapore on the same day.
Under the structure, Ley Choon Constructions and Engineering holds a 51% stake in the joint venture company, whilst The Tunnel Company (Aust) Pty Ltd holds the remaining 49%.
The joint venture will focus on pipe jacking and trenchless infrastructure construction activities in Singapore and overseas markets.
Ley Choon said the arrangement is intended to support expansion and diversification of its existing pipe-laying and tunnelling-related operations.
The Tunnel Company (Aust) Pty Ltd is an Australian specialist contractor in trenchless infrastructure, with capabilities in micro tunnelling, pipe jacking, shaft sinking, and slip lining, according to the statement.
The joint venture board will comprise five directors, with Ley Choon appointing three and the Australian partner appointing two.
Ley Choon said the investment was funded through internal resources and is not expected to have a material impact on earnings per share or net tangible assets per share for the financial year ending 31 March 2027.
The company added that the joint venture structure is expected to help enhance project execution capabilities, whilst allowing both parties to leverage complementary technical expertise in trenchless infrastructure delivery.
