Ohmyhome makes HDB flat transactions hassle-free

Assistance via their hotline can be free of charge.

When an intern told sisters Race and Rhonda Wong that he paid $700 rent per month to live in a windowless room, they knew their startup Ohmyhome would be of big help.

Ohmyhome is a real estate platform and a CEA licensed real estate agency which lets users buy, sell or rent HDB flats on their own without any hassle. Ohmyhome connects home searchers to home owners directly and for free. All listings are genuine, non-duplicate and easy to browse. Users can ask for free of charge assistance over the Ohmyhome hotline anytime they need. For people who prefer a human touch, affordable additional agent and documentation services are available for a flat-fee, regardless of HDB size or price.

Through Ohmyhome’s app, the intern found a proper room for $600 per month.

Ohmyhome was introduced to serve HDB dwellers to enjoy savings through taking control of their own homes, starting from the buying, selling and renting. The platform aims to redefine the property market standards by introducing the popular Do-It-Yourself concept into the property industry.

It was inspired by the people around the owners Rhonda and Race Wong who came to them with their HDB transaction problems: Divorce, loan sharks, financial difficulties, lack of knowledge, lack of time, cheated by agents, unit on the market for way too long without any takers, agents pushing their selling price way below valuation, tenants who have to pay rent for living in illegally partitioned areas with no windows etc. "So when we gathered sufficient personal funds to create an app, this group – the majority of our community, was the first that we wanted to help," the founders said.

"The first year of conceptualizing, putting a small team together, building the test version of the app through an out sourced developer was all self-funded by Anthill Corporation. When we knew the product was ready, then we started raising funds," she added.

The sisters said that they aim to make Ohmyhome a one-stop shop for real estate matters. "From the day you think of selling/buying/renting, we’ll be there to guide you through the entire process. Making transactions easier and hassle free for our users will remain our goal. Our improvements will continue in the direction of our motto of being Honest, Easy and Free," the founders noted.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
