Real estate investment volumes down 55.6% QoQ in Q4 22

Total preliminary real estate investment volumes were at $3.194b.

On the back of low asset sales in retail and residential, real estate investment volumes declined 55.6% quarter-on-quarter to $3.194b in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2022, CBRE said.

In a statement, CBRE said full year 2022 investment volumes increased 9.8% compared to the year before even as investor sentiments were muted. It landed at $30.293b, with support from strong volumes in the first half of 2022.

The 2022 office investment volumes were the highest since 2016, but Q4 office investment volumes fell 32.2% from the previous quarter and 63.8% from the previous year.

Hotel and retail investment volumes rebounded in 2022 because of the tourism recovery. Capital values and yields mostly stabilised in Q4 2022.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
