Singapore REIT sector raised $4.5b in secondary fundraisings in 2020

The largest placement raised was by Ascendas REIT, at $800m.

Trusts that represent the Singapore REIT sector raised $3b in placements, whilst five trusts raised a further $1.5b in rights issues for a total of 4.5b in secondary fundraisings in 2020, according to an update by the Singapore Exchange.

The largest placement, with $800m raised, was conducted by Ascendas REIT, whilst the biggest rights issue with $760m raised was conducted by Frasers Centrepoint Trust.

The five REITs with the highest net retail inflows for 2020 were: CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust, CapitaLand Retail China Trust, Ascendas REIT, Suntec REIT, and Lendlease REIT.

By the end of 2020, the combined market capitalisation of the REIT sector stood at $107b, representing 12% of the combined value of all stocks listed for trading on Singapore Exchange. The REIT sector grew at an annual compound rate of 11% over the past 10 years.
