Singapore and the European Union (EU) has reaffirmed their partnership and commitment to climate action.

In a joint statement, the two parties plan to achieve their goals up to the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties. The statement was issued by the EU, Singapore’s Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and the National Climate Change Secretariat under the Prime Minister’s Office.

This followed European Commission Executive Vice President Frans Timmermans’ visit to Singapore, during which he met with Sustainability and Environment Minister Grace Fu and Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean.

Singapore has sent medical supplies and equipment to Indonesia as COVID-19 cases in the latter continue to rise, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Indonesia has reported a record high of 38,391 cases and 852 new COVID-19-related deaths.

The supplies and equipment included oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, and personal protective equipment.
