Most people know the Monetary Authority of Singapore, or MAS in short, as the central bank of Singapore. However, not everyone really knows what MAS actually do, and more importantly, how its decisions can have an impact on our lives in Singapore. Rather than write a PHD long thesis of the functions and responsibilities of a central bank, we will simplified the understanding and simply list down three main roles which which MAS plays. Open listing is a non-exclusive agreement, meaning the property to be listed is open to any agents and the owner is not responsible for the commission, unless the agent brings the buyer. REITs are a type of professionally managed collective investment scheme with its primary business being the acquiring, owning and financing of income generating real estate. REITs have the benefit of providing investors with a regular income stream and prospects of long term capital appreciation.
