Gov't concludes review of Singapore Standard Industrial Classification
The 2025 SSIC maintains basic principles with changes made to align with international standards.
The government has concluded the review of and released the latest Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SSIC).
The SSIC is the national standard for classifying economic activities undertaken by economic units and is used for censuses.
Key changes include the split of the ‘Information and Communication’ section into ‘Publishing, Broadcasting, and Content Production and Distribution Activities’ and ‘Telecommunications, Computer Programming, Consultancy, Computing Infrastructure and Other Information Service Activities’.
To maintain SSIC's relevance, new codes were created and existing ones broadened for emerging green economy activities, while obsolete or rarely used codes were removed or merged.
The review of the SSIC was undertaken by the Singapore Department of Statistics and a working group comprising representatives from various government agencies.
