Jobless in November hit 76,000

But this number shows a decrease compared to the previous month, MOM claims.

According to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), around 76,000 residents were unemployed in November 2021.

Overall, this dipped 0.1 percentage point from 2.6% to 2.5%, month-on-month (MoM).

Of the 76,000 jobless aged 15 and above who are actively looking for work but are not employed, 70,200 are Singaporean citizens. This is a 0.1 percentage point decline from 3.6% to 3.5%, MoM.

Meanwhile, for the residents, from 3.4% to 3.2%, 0.2 percentage point was recorded.

MOM's survey covers private households in Singapore, excluding workers living in construction sites and quarters at the workplace and persons commuting from abroad to work in Singapore.

Estimates of the total labour force are derived by combining data on residents obtained from the survey with nonresident employment data compiled from administrative records.
