KPMG's new guide boosts digital talent with sustainability focus

The guide aligns with national initiatives such as the Forward Singapore exercise and the Singapore Green Plan 2030.

KPMG introduced a strategic guide titled "Advancing Digital Sustainable Talent for the Future" to assist local businesses in developing digital talent whilst also embedding sustainability into their operations.

The guide aligns with national initiatives such as the Forward Singapore exercise and the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which focus on driving digital transformation and sustainable development.

Developed with contributions from the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) Sustainable Tech Special Interest Group (SIG), the guide provides actionable strategies for businesses to integrate sustainability into their workforce.

The guide outlines four key focus areas to help businesses navigate the transition to a green economy. The Landscape Analysis examines Singapore’s digital and sustainability efforts in the context of global frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The second focus area, "Green by Design" principles, advocates embedding sustainability into core business functions, including procurement, systems development, and operations, to ensure eco-conscious practices are integrated from the outset rather than as an afterthought.

The Digital Talent Roadmap section of the guide provides a structured approach for businesses to upskill their workforce with emerging green competencies. This roadmap offers practical examples, such as optimising algorithms for energy efficiency among software engineers.

The guide also provides Recommendations for Businesses, emphasising the importance of fostering a culture of green innovation, encouraging cross-sector collaborations to scale sustainable solutions, and aligning operational processes with national sustainability goals like the Singapore Green Plan 2030.

KPMG’s guide emphasises the challenges posed by the green transition present opportunities for growth. Businesses that leverage existing digital capabilities will not only stay competitive but also play a crucial role in achieving national and global sustainability goals.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
