Median income of full-time local workers spikes in 2015

It’s now up to $3,949 from last year’s $3,000.

Median income of full-time local workers grew robustly in 2015 amid the tight labour market and manpower shortage, according to the Ministry of Manpower.

Including CPF contributions, the median income of full-time employed residents spiked 32% to $3,949 in 2015 from $3,000 in 2010 nominal terms, or 5.7% per annum.

Nominal median monthly income from work of full-time employed residents, including CPF contributions, inched up 4.7% over the year to $3,949 in June 2015. After adjusting for negative inflation, preliminary figures revealed that real median income grew at an increased pace of 5.4%.

Income at the 20th percentile witnessed a considerable hike as well over the past half-decade. Amid ongoing initiatives to bolster the income of low-wage workers, income at the 20th percentile of full-time employed residents surged by 26% to $2,0129 in 2015 from $1,600 in 2010 in nominal terms, or 4.7% p.a.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
