New joint project office to boost Singapore business presence in JS-SEZ
It aims to streamline trade and investment processes.
A new joint project office has been set up by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), Enterprise Singapore, and the Economic Development Board (EDB) to help Singapore companies expand into the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
Speaking at the JS-SEZ Joint Business and Investment Forum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong said the initiative aims to strengthen the fundamentals of the economic zone and enhance its appeal to investors.
“MTI, together with Enterprise Singapore and EDB, have established a joint project office to support Singapore-based companies keen to expand and do more in the JS-SEZ,” he said.
He added that the office will “complement the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre–Johor (IMFC-J) established by Malaysia.”
The move is part of broader efforts to streamline processes, improve connectivity, and strengthen the overall business ecosystem between Singapore and Johor.
Gan highlighted that in an increasingly volatile global economy, initiatives like the JS-SEZ are both important and timely. He emphasised the need for like-minded countries to work together in strengthening supply chains and seizing new opportunities arising from shifts in global trade dynamics.
“As businesses seek to reconfigure their production and supply chain arrangements, there will be new opportunities for those who are nimble and fast to adapt to the new landscape,” Gan said.
