Singapore ranks 5th most globally connected and influential city
The city rose from 7th place last year.
Singapore has emerged as the fifth most internationally connected and influential city globally, Kearney reported.
According to Kearney’s Global Cities Outlook (GCI), Singapore rose to 5th place from 7th last year, driven by increased business activity, success in the human capital dimension, a near-perfect score in ease of entry, and strong digital capabilities.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong secured top 10 spots, ranking 4th, 6th, 8th, and 9th, respectively.
The GCI measures the connectivity of cities across five dimensions including business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, and political engagement using 31 metrics.
The 2024 GCI introduced new metrics including measures of digital readiness and human mobility to reflect the macro changes in the global operating environment.
