Singapore unveils rent voucher for families awaiting BTO flat completion

The 1-year voucher is expected to enable them to temporarily rent an HDB flat.

Singapore is rolling out 1-year housing vouchers to support families awaiting the completion of their BTO flats.

In his budget statement, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said that the government is providing a PPHS (Open Market) voucher for one year. The voucher is expected to enable families to rent an HDB flat in the open market as they wait for the completion of their BTO flats.

The voucher is part of a series of support schemes that the Singapore government is rolling out in support of local families.

Many support schemes are aimed for families with children and in particular for the children's education.

Notably, the Edusave Endowment Fund has been topped up by $2b.

With this, all special education schools’ maximum monthly fees have been reduced to $90, from $250 previously. Fee caps for all Special Student Care Centres have also been lowered.
