Two-thirds of businesses involved in corporate giving: Wong

This will build trust and unity in the society.

Corporate giving amongst businesses increased to 75% or two-thirds from 50% in 2015, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong.

Companies engaged in corporate giving means they give time or resources to a charity or foundation. In doing so, Wong pointed out, it increased overall trust in society.

He noted that a Pew research of countries all over the world showed that Singapore is one of the few countries where trust and unity is higher than in a pandemic, with 75% “thinking that Singapore today is more united than before.”

Wong also said the government will do more to make an open and attractive environment for firms to succeed, which means investing in education and upskilling to hire talent.

“That means investing significantly to  entrench our status as a hub for the region and the world, to bring in  more businesses and create more opportunities for growth,” Wong told attendees of the Champions of Good Conferment.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
