Seatrium, GE Vernova to develop 3rd offshore wind project in the Netherlands

Works on the project will begin on 1 June 2024.

A consortium led by Seatrium and GE Vernova will be developing its third offshore wind project in the Netherlands for TenneT, with the construction starting on 1 June 2024.

In a statement, Seatrium said the development of the third two-gigawatt (GW) high-voltage direct current electrical transmission is in line with its five-year Framework Cooperation Agreement with GE Vernova and TenneT.

Under the agreement, the company will supply three HVDC electrical transmission systems for such a project, each worth $2.9b (EUR2b), with a total combined capacity of 6 GW.

“This project underscores our commitment to helping our customers achieve their renewable energy goals by providing innovative and cost-effective solutions that help accelerate the energy transition,” said Samuel Wong, Executive Vice President, Fixed Platforms.

Seatrium will be involved in the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and commissioning of the project.

It added that this will contribute to TenneT’s goal of deploying 40 GW of offshore wind energy in the German and Dutch North Seas.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
