Three former Shell employees charged for corruption

Three former employees of Shell Eastern Petroleum allegedly conspired to bribe companies that inspect vessels that get their fuel from the company.

Juandi Bin Pungot, Muzaffar Ali Khan Bid Muhamad Akram, and Richard Goh Chee Keong were charged for corruption offenses for bribing employees of various surveying companies.

The bribes allegedly offered to these employees total to an approximate $154,000, spent between 2014 and 2017.

Pungot and Akram, both Singaporeans, allegedly conspired to give corrupt gratifications of up to $121,285 to 10 employees of different surveying companies to refrain from accurately reporting the results of their inspections from 2014 to 2017.

Keong, a permanent resident of Singapore, allegedly gave approximately $33,000 to three employees of various surveying companies between 2016 and 2017.

All three were previously charged for their alleged involvement in misapropriating fuel from Shell Bukom.

They could face a fine of up to $100,000 and/or sentenced to imprisonment of up to five years if found guilty.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
