MasterCard appoints Maripi Jalandoni as Group Head of Marketing

Based in Singapore, she will ensure that the company's brand positioning is executed effectively across Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

According to MasterCard Worldwide, Jalandoni will translate the implementation of global strategies across APMEA. Jalandoni will also be responsible for regional management of marketing teams and is tasked with developing strategies and tactics to accommodate local market opportunities.

She offers years of consumer marketing and brand management experience along with an in-depth knowledge of the payments industry and a clear understanding of the diversity and potential of the region.”

Jalandoni brings a wealth of experience to her new role with close to 14 years in the financial sector and 12 years of consumer marketing expertise. She was most recently in the financial industry, where a large part of her focus was on the payments card business. Prior to joining MasterCard, she was the Managing Director at Barclaycard based in the UAE, responsible for the development and expansion of the cards business in emerging markets in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Russia. Before her time at Barclays Bank, she was Country Chief Executive and Consumer Clients Head of ABN-AMRO Bank in Hong Kong and before this, she was at Citibank in Hong Kong and the Philippines holding several senior positions in the cards division during her tenure.

Jalandoni also brings considerable experience in the field of marketing with a focus on the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry. During her time with Joh A Benckiser Asia GmbH, she was initially based in Hong Kong as regional marketing director and later became marketing director of China, where she established and built up the China marketing operation based in Shanghai and Beijing. She started her career at Procter & Gamble in Manila where she successfully initiated and implemented a number of marketing campaigns and platforms for multiple brands during her eight year tenure, including a three-year term in Seoul, Korea.

Jalandoni graduated top of her class at the Ateneo de Manila University with a B.S. Management Engineering, Cum Laude.
