Aleta Planet wins Malaysian payment licences for ASEAN expansion
This adds to its merchant acquirer licence for credit and debit card payments.
Singapore-based fintech firm Aleta Planet has secured licences from Bank Negara Malaysia to provide remittance and e-money services in Malaysia.
The company received the Money Services Business Class B licence and E-Money Issuer licence, adding to its existing merchant acquirer licence that allows it to process credit and debit card payments.
Aleta Planet said it plans to facilitate high-value trade and payment flows by serving Chinese investors and tourists entering Malaysia, as well as Malaysian exporters in sectors such as machinery, technology, and agriculture.
The move comes as Malaysia’s digital payments market is projected to reach $364.5b (RM1.13t) in transaction value in 2026, based on data cited from Bank Negara Malaysia and Statista.
Malaysia’s total trade value exceeded $967.6b (RM3t) in 2025, according to the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
Cross-border e-commerce now accounts for nearly 40% of digital transactions, citing figures from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation and J.P. Morgan payments reports.
