Fast food outlets falter as restaurants, food caterers surge

Receipts of fast food chains declined 0.8% while other F&B sectors grew.

The June performance worsened anew compared to the 0% growth in May. Meanwhile, restaurants and food caterers increased 6.2% and 4.6%, respectively, over the same period. These reversed their 5.6% and 1.6% declines in May, according to government statistics.

On a yoy basis, compared to June 2011, food caterers recorded an 11.6% increase in receipts in June 2012. Turnover of restaurants, fast food outlets and other eating places (such as cafes and canteens) also rose between 2.9% and 5.2%.
