Q&M Dental Group will not renew Acumen's lab licence, suspends operations

It will also close its joint testing and vaccination centre in Sengkang from 1 December.

Q & M Dental Group has suspended Acumen's laboratory operations, choosing not to renew its laboratory licence after its expiration on 15 September.

The decision reflects Acumen’s continued losses throughout 2023 and the first half of 2024, compounded by a reduced demand for COVID-19 PCR testing.

The group said that it plans to redirect potential cost savings toward developing new diagnostics-related ventures within Acumen’s portfolio.

Additionally, Q & M announced that it will close the joint testing and vaccination centre in Sengkang, effective 1 December, following Ministry of Health (MOH) directives.

The cessation of Acumen’s testing operations will halt its contributions to the group’s revenue, though Q & M assured that it will continue to pursue new MOH contract opportunities and explore reapplying for a laboratory licence in the future to resume clinical testing services.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
