Here are three new Sentosa hotels to watch out for in 2019

Village Hotel, the biggest with 606 guest rooms, features the Lazy River pool for children and the Pamukkale Pool which is an infinity pool overlooking the seaside.

Sentosa’s charm of being a different side of Singapore makes it a getaway choice for both foreigners and locals. It has a variety of hotels where visitors can choose from.

The hotel landscape in the area is 90% made up of high-end luxury accommodation, James Walton, Deloitte Southeast Asia transportation, hospitality, and services sector leader said. On average, 19 million people storm to Sentosa annually of which one-third are locals who are looking for a staycation, he added.

"Its consistent appeal lies in its branding as the place for anyone to getaway and unwind,” Huttons group head of marketing & communication Hector Tan told Singapore Business Review. &It lets people experience a side of Singapore that is different from the usual cityscape that everyone is familiar with.”

By 2019, visitors will have three new picks for a hotel choice in Sentosa with Far East Hospitality’s launching of the Village Hotel and The Outpost Hotel by Q1 2019 and The Barracks Hotel by Q3 2019.

"Synergies from being part of a bigger hospitality group may mean that they can offer guests more vibrant and differentiated experiences.,"  CBRE Hotels  Asia Pacific manager Zhang Jiahao commented. "The opening of these properties is expected to add a new vibe to the Sentosa hotel market."

The three hotels will come in as mid-tier hotels against a backdrop of luxury hotels in Sentosa.

“The location, Artillery Avenue in the Palawan area of Sentosa, also offers guests excellent connectivity, not just to attractions on the island, but also to the main city area,” a spokesperson from Far East Hospitality said.

Each hotel will cater to different guest segments, with Village Hotel being the biggest with 606 guest rooms. Amongst its key features is the Lazy River pool for children and the Pamukkale Pool which is an infinity pool overlooking the seaside.

The hotel will also have family rooms with two en-suite bathrooms and two sets of amenities, making it ideal for staycationers which has seen a growing demand in the area recently. Far East Hospitality also thinks that the hotel could lure business travelers as well as meetings, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE).

Also poised for opening by Q1 2019 is The Outpost Hotel which is more adult-oriented with its chic and bold aesthetics inspired by black and white design. Future guests in its 193 rooms will have exclusive access to its rooftop pool and bar.

Coming in by later is The Barracks Hotel with 40 guest rooms where rooms on the ground floor offer direct access to the pool and jacuzzi. With its key target markets initially set as Australia, China, Germany, India, Japan, Russia, UK, and US, the highly exclusive brand will reflected history as it is a refurbishment from a former colonial military building.

“An established brand making its foray into Sentosa is a sign that businesses operating on the island are doing well,” Tan said. “It reinforces Sentosa’s relevance as a holiday destination for years to come.”

Meanwhile, Walton highlighted that the new hotels are strategically located in the prime Palawan area on the island on Artillery Avenue, with great connectivity to the major attractions in the island, such as the Universal Studios Singapore, Sentosa Merlion, and beach through the transportation network.

“There are also bus routes from Sentosa causeway to the main city area and Central Business District where visitors can look forward to other attractions such as Gardens by the Bay and Trick Eye Museum,” he added.

Far East Hospitality revealed that they are planning ways to elevate the hotel experiences with differentiated F&B offerings, event and wedding solutions, and partnerships with attractions in Sentosa.

The impending launch of the three new hotels will help uplift the island’s attractiveness in the short term as well as to provide new scope for development and investments.

“The infrastructure will provide added avenues and capabilities to host large-scale celebrations, events, meetings, conferences and exhibitions. As a whole, the whole area can be developed for tourism, as well as commercial and residential purposes,” he explained.

Tan is also positive that Sentosa’s hotel landscape will be promising as statistics show that hotel occupancy rate for luxury and upscale hotels remains consistent at a healthy 80% and above, with some months hitting highs of over 90%. Hotels have also experienced a 5.5% increase in their revenue per available room (RevPAR) in August as it sealed its seventh consecutive month of growth.

“Last week the Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry Chee Hong Tat announced that comprehensive plans are in the works to reshape Sentosa island to provide more scope for new attractions and investments,” he added.
