Travellers also favored regional destinations like Australia, Malaysia, China, and South Korea.
Japan has emerged as the top year-end holiday destination for Singapore’s Generation Alpha and Generation Z (37%), as travellers focus on destinations closer to home, according to Hilton.
Hilton reported that nine out of ten destinations searched by Singapore travelers on Hilton.com for the December 21 to January 3 period were within the Asia Pacific region, underscoring a strong preference for intra-regional travel.
Other popular destinations in the region include Australia (26%), Malaysia (25%), as well as China and South Korea (both 23%).
Among cities, Japan stands out as a clear favorite, with Tokyo being the most searched destination, followed by Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in second and third place, respectively.
Interest in China has also grown significantly, with searches for Beijing increasing by 48%, Shanghai by 81%, and Guangzhou by 87%.
