NBA announces multi-year Singapore events with SportSG and STB

The partners will launch the NBA Rising Stars Invitational” in June.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced a landmark multi-year collaboration with Sport Singapore (SportSG) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to bring a series of NBA events to Singapore.

Starting in June, the partners will launch a new, multi-day immersive basketball and entertainment festival in Singapore culminating in the “NBA Rising Stars Invitational”.

The NBA Rising Stars Invitational, the league’s first regional high school tournament, will feature teams from 10 Asia-Pacific nations competing at Kallang Alive Precinct from 25 to 29 June.

The festival will be headlined by a line-up of current and former NBA and Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) players.

Participating teams will be identified in collaboration with local basketball federations and leagues with select markets hosting local qualifying events to determine its representative. Singapore, as the host country, will be represented by two teams in each division.

Top players will have the opportunity to attend future NBA basketball development camps, showcases, and programmes.

“The NBA Rising Stars Invitational will help accelerate and elevate the basketball ecosystem in Asia-Pacific while serving as a viable pathway for players to receive additional basketball training. We look forward to working with SportSG and STB to bring the NBA Rising Stars Invitational and other exciting events to Singapore,” Wayne Chang, managing director of NBA Asia said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
