Singapore's passport is the world's second best

It has visa-free access to 176 countries.

Singapore rose two places YoY to rank second globally on the 2018 edition of the Henley Passport Index, thanks to its visa-free access to 176 countries.

According to a press release, Singapore also remains the best-performing country in the region, achieving its highest ranking on the index in 10 years.

The Lion City beat eight countries which are tied in third place, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden, and the UK, which offer access to 175 countries.

Germany took the top spot in the index, offering its citizens access to 177 countries.

Countries in Southeast Asia have remained stable.

Malaysia ranks 2nd in the region, and 12th globally, with Malaysian nationals enjoying visa-free access to 166 countries.

The index has historical data for 13 years. The rankings are based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
