6 in 10 Singaporeans are willing to travel for business, but on their own terms

Most business travellers expect flexibility to book travel outside of company policy.

More Singaporeans are willing to travel for business (67% vs 48%), but not without higher expectations to prioritize safety, flexibility and sustainability.

According to a SAP Concur survey, nine in 10 business travellers expect flexibility to book travel outside company policy when policy conflicts with their needs or values.

Flexible arrangement includes employers allowing staff to book travel that help facilitate a healthy work-life balance (53%).

They also want employers to allow them to book more sustainable travel options (50%).

About 95% of SG travellers will take extra steps over the next 12 months to reduce the environmental impact of their business travel, whilst 25% would decline a business trip that would impact the environment negatively.

In addition, 46% of travellers book directly using an airline hotel or car rental company’s website or app, whilst 41% use their company's travel agency.

Nine in 10 (96%) travellers also said their business travels have been affected by reduced travel budgets.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
