Canon Singapore, Temasek Polytechnic to launch security centre in 2025
It is set to open in the third quarter of 2025.
Canon Singapore and Temasek Polytechnic have partnered to enhance the professional development of security personnel in Singapore, establishing a Security Technology Experience Centre (STEC) on campus.
The STEC, set to open in the third quarter of 2025, will provide immersive, hands-on learning opportunities aimed at equipping security professionals with the skills needed to tackle industry challenges and capitalise on emerging opportunities.
It will be accessible to both local and international visitors, fostering knowledge sharing and encouraging the adoption of advanced security solutions.
This comes amidst projections that the security services market in Asia Pacific will grow at a compound annual rate of 6.2% from 2023 to 2030, driven by increased demand from commercial and government sectors.
The centre will collaborate closely with industry experts, academic institutions, and government agencies to bolster Singapore’s security capabilities, noted Canon Singapore’s Senior Vice President, Norihiro Katagiri.
The partnership also includes the development of specialised training programs tailored for mid-career security personnel as part of Temasek Polytechnic’s Continuing Education and Training initiatives. With over 30,000 enrollees, this effort aims to meet the security sector’s evolving needs and address the persistent demand for skilled security professionals in Singapore.
Canon Singapore will lead the initiative alongside Axis Communications, BriefCam, and Milestone Systems. The companies will provide a range of security and surveillance technologies such as advanced cameras, intelligent video analytics software, and video management systems.
