Chart of the Day: Total employment shrank by 2,500 in Q3

There was a decrease in Work Permit Holders in the construction and manufacturing sector.

This chart from the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) shows total employment shrank by 2,500 in Q3.

This was caused by a decrease in Work Permit Holders in the construction and manufacturing sector.

Total employment was lower than a year ago, which shrank by 4,200.

Employment in manufacturing declined by 6,000, whilst services employment continued to grow by 13,000.

It also contracted for the construction sector for the fifth straight quarter, weighed down by weakness in private sector construction activities.
