Civil servants to receive a 1.05-month year-end bonus

Junior grade officers also get an additional one-time payment of $600.

The government will pay all civil servants a year-end Annual Variable Component (AVC) of 1.05 months, the Public Service Division said.

Civil servants in grades equivalent to MX15 and MX16 and those in the operations support scheme (OSS) will also receive an additional one-time payment of $600.

This year-end payment takes into consideration the National Wages Council (NWC) guidelines for 2024-2025 as well as Singapore’s gross domestic product (GDP), which is expected to grow by around 3.5% in 2024.

The government will continue to pay the non-pensionable annual allowance (NPAA) of 1 month to all civil servants.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has upgraded Singapore’s GDP growth forecast for 2024 to “around 3.5%” from “2% to 3%.”

The assessment reflects the better-than-expected performance of the Singapore economy in the first three quarters of the year, alongside the latest global and domestic economic situations.

On the labour market front, the Ministry of Manpower’s labour market advance showed that total employment continued to expand even when uncertainty in the global economy remained. Unemployment rates and retrenchments also remained low amid a tight labour market.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
