Seven in ten voters see more walkabouts as 2025 polls near: survey
Nearly 57% of respondents are planning to attend at least one election rally.
A new survey by Blackbox Research revealed that 71% of Singaporeans have noticed increased political walkabouts, with the People’s Action Party (PAP) especially active in the East and North regions.
The Opposition, meanwhile, is making its strongest push in the North-East — a familiar battleground — as it sharpens its campaign strategy.
The report also showed growing voter engagement, with nearly 57% of respondents planning to attend at least one election rally. Of those, 47% say they are most likely to turn up at an Opposition event.
This surge in visible activity comes amidst a politically alert electorate. 76% of Singaporeans say they are closely following local politics, up from 69% last year, and interest amongst voters under 30 has jumped to 72%.
Still, the race remains wide open. Three in ten voters remain undecided, with indecision highest amongst younger voters and residents in the North-East and West.
The report, based on a survey of over 1,500 Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, also highlights deeper issues shaping voter sentiment.
Cost of living remains the top concern across all age groups, followed by jobs, salaries, and housing affordability, with anxiety over home prices especially pronounced among voters in their 30s.
In terms of leadership, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong maintains a strong 75% approval rating, whilst Workers’ Party leader Pritam Singh has seen his rating climb to 71%, a 7-point gain from the previous quarter, suggesting tightening competition.
Although voters remain largely positive about Singapore’s direction, with 88% saying the country is on the right track, their heightened political awareness signals a more discerning electorate heading into GE2025.
