Singapore retains its crown as Asia’s most talent-competitive country

Globally, Singapore ranked second in talent competitiveness.

Singapore is still the most talent-competitive country in Asia, according to Insead’s Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2023.

Globally, Singapore ranked second with an overall score of 77.1, behind Switzerland (78.6).

By pillar, Singapore ranked 1st in Global Knowledge Skills. “its highly-educated labour force and innovative economy contribute to its top rank in the High-Level Skills and Talent Impact sub-pillar,” Insead said.

The city-state also made it into the top three in the following pillars: Attract (2nd), Grow (3rd), and Vocational and Technical Skills (3rd).

“In these pillars, its top-ranked Formal Education, its ability to match workforce supply and labour market demand, and its 4th-placed ranking for External Openness towards overseas business and talent are particularly impressive,” Insead said.

The country’s main weakness remains its ability to Retain talent. In the "Retain" pillar, Singapore ranked 38th.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
