SMU launches Urban SustaInnovator global accelerator
Startups accepted into USI will be assigned a Lead Mentor and benefit from N:1 advisory panels.
Singapore Management University (SMU) has launched the Urban SustaInnovator (USI), a global accelerator aimed at advancing urban solutions and sustainability.
The announcement was made during the 12th Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition (LKYGBPC) Grand Finals Week, held from September 29 to October 2.
The USI programme is hosted by SMU’s Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IIE) and is designed as a 12-month, hybrid, non-residential accelerator with no equity or fees.
Open to eligible startups globally, it is backed by a public-private consortium including A*STAR, Antler, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), Energy Market Authority (EMA), ST Engineering, The GEAR by Kajima, TRIREC, and Wavemaker Partners.
Positioned to address key priorities under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, USI targets startups working on decarbonisation, energy transition, and sustainable construction and mobility.
The initiative is part of SMU’s broader push to support innovation that aligns with national sustainability goals.
Startups accepted into USI will be assigned a Lead Mentor and benefit from N:1 advisory panels and peer-learning opportunities.
They will receive tailored support in fundraising, industry networking, hiring, and validation or accreditation processes. SMU will also provide access to Asia-Pacific markets through its overseas centres and events.
