Workplace inclusivity remains a major issue for women in Singapore, survey

43.8% of women expressed willingness to spend more time in the office if their needs were better addressed.

In Singapore, 70% of women aged between 18 and 34 felt that their needs were not being met in the workplace, a survey by LoopMe revealed.

The survey also revealed that only 21.5% felt that their workplace took female-specific needs such as period pain or menopause “very seriously.”

Over a third or 34.2% also said that they would prefer security outside the office when they leave despite Singapore’s reputation as one of the “safest” cities in the world.

Meanwhile, 43.8% of respondents indicated they would be “quite likely” to spend more time in the office if there was better accommodation for female needs.

Additionally, 1 in 5, or 18.5% said they were “extremely likely” to spend more time in the office if it catered to their needs such as female-oriented rooms for breastfeeding (19.7%), and temperature-controlled rooms (18.4%).

Singapore has the highest percentage of employment rate for women aged 25 to 64 in the world at 77%.

The survey was conducted between 19 and 26 February 2024, analysing data from 3,807 female respondents on their perspectives towards female-centric considerations in the workplace.
