IMDA calls on tech firms to boost development of smart estate projects

It has set aside $14m to support the development of new urban technologies.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) announced its technology call in a bid to help technology firms build their capabilities within the digital economy, an announcement revealed.

The initiative aims to accelerate Singapore’s journey in developing ‘smart estates;.

Under the call, IMDA has partnered with Ascendas-Singbridge Group (ASB) and JTC to trial urban solutions for smart estates, with $14m set aside to fund its trials at ASB’s Science Park 1 and 2, as well as JTC’s LaunchPads at one-north and Jurong Innovation District and Fusionopolis One.

“This connectivity will enable innovative digital services to provide a seamless experience for the community and create new growth opportunities for enterprises,” IMDA said in a statement. “Developers and facility owners can benefit from improvements such as energy efficiency and operational effectiveness, potentially reducing operating costs for buildings and estates.”

IMDA is set to bring in additional partners to create more opportunities for technology companies, the statement added.
