They are also unaware of the cost of cloud service interruption.
Majority of businesses in Singapore (69%) admitted that they have not fully evaluated the cost of cloud outage and unprepared to deal with the impact of an outage, The Truth in Cloud study by Veritas and Vanson Bourne revealed.
The study noted that whilst cloud adoption continues to accelerate companies are unaware of the impact of cloud outage to their business. For instance, more than one in three respondents (36%) only expect cloud downtime to last less than 15 minutes compared to average downtime of 21 minutes per month.
Whilst cloud outage and recovery are a joint responsibility between cloud provider and the company, 67% of the respondents believe dealing with cloud service interruptions is the primary responsibility of the provider.
“Immediate recovery from a cloud outage is absolutely within an organisation’s control if they take a proactive stance to application uptime in the cloud. Getting this right means less downtime, financial impact, loss of customers’ trust, and damage to brand reputation,” said David Noy, vice president of product management of Veritas, in a press release.
The Truth in Cloud study was participated by 1200 global business and IT decision makers.
