Gov’t to allocate $150m for AI, supercomputing initiative
It also introduced the hybrid quantum-classical computing 1.0 initiative.
The government will be allocating $150m in funding to the Enterprise Compute Initiative for businesses to access resources for artificial intelligence and supercomputing.
“The National Supercomputing Centre has another pilot initiative with Digital Industry Singapore to support small and medium-sized enterprises and local start-ups to access supercomputers,” Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo said during the Supercomputing Asia 2025.
The minister also added that the government will take a further step to seed capabilities in hybrid quantum-classical computing through the new HQCC 1.0 initiative.
HQCC marries the capabilities of classical high-performance computing for large-scale data processing with quantum computing’s capacity for solving highly complex problems.
“Through this initiative, we aim to develop HQCC infrastructure to build a critical mass of engineering and scientific talent, and foster industry collaborations to apply HQCC in relevant sectors,” Teo said.
