Nearly 7 in 10 workers fear blockchain will steal their jobs

70% want to avoid losing to machines by learning the technology.

Seven out of 10 or 65% of Singaporean workers fear that blockchain technology could lead to job displacement within the next five years, professional services and training provider ComtelPro reported in a survey.

Almost 70% of workers want to learn the technology to avoid being outpaced.

Further, 80% of workers also want to learn Cloud Technology, followed by the Internet of Things (79%), Big Data (75%), Artificial Intelligence (74%), Cybersecurity (72%), and 3D printing (62%).

Meanwhile, 32% of workers think that digital and technological changes could lead to job displacement.

“For many, the advancement of automation and digitalisation brings a sense of uncertainty, as they feel their role may be affected by the emerging technologies’ increasing efficiencies,” said Satish Kosaraju, authorised representative of ComtelPro.
